The L.U.C 1963: a tribute to the elegance of pocket watches
At the heart of the L.U.C collection, our Heritage timepieces are inspired by Chopard’s fine watchmaking past and traditions; a true expression of elegance, precision and design. There is no collection that conveys our passion, innovation and traditions better than the L.U.C line.
The L.U.C 1963 is a masterpiece that pays tribute to this very year in which the Scheufele family acquired Chopard, making it the prestigious company it is today while remaining true to its roots as a Swiss luxury brand devoted to excellence. As a wristwatch equipped with a pocket-watch movement, it is a timepiece that reflects both the proud watchmaking traditions and technical expertise of Chopard since the company was founded in 1860, and the passion for high-precision timing to which Chopard remains firmly committed. Certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), the L.U.C. 1963 also bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark; a testament to the watch’s exceptional quality and extraordinary precision. While excellence in manufacturing and technical production are paramount to both Chopard and the Scheufele family, style and design are essential in giving our timepieces their characteristic, distinctive aspect.
Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard, explains the approach behind this model: “We had a very classical approach, reminiscent of the watches that my father used to make just after the takeover: models with white dials and black Roman numerals. Such was the classic aesthetic of the era and which my father deliberately cultivated.”
Marrying modern expertise that ensures precise time-keeping and a classic yet sophisticated design, the L.U.C 1963 has an undoubtedly powerful and utterly distinguished presence. Paying tribute to Chopard’s historic timepieces and the elegant traditions of pocket watches, the L.U.C 1963 also features a mechanical, hand-wound movement. It is the perfect combination of form and function. With a porcelain-type dial and satin-brushed case, the L.U.C 1963 is an understated timepiece which will certainly appeal to connoisseurs. The white dial displays the hours marked out in classic Roman numerals; a hint at the heritage and traditions of the watches of yesteryear. The design of the uncluttered face is an expression of purity and simplicity, while hand-crafted finishes include finely gilded inscriptions and beveled nickel silver bridges, accentuating the exquisite 18-carat rose gold case.
A rare and limited edition design which absolutely epitomizes Chopard, only 50 pieces of this exceptional and exclusive timepiece have been produced. The L.U.C 1963 is a must-have for true devotees of the art of fine watchmaking.
